Senior physiotherapy

Our Senior Physiotherapy program centres around training your body to achieve the activities that matter most to you; whether that’s walking further, playing with your grandkids, climbing stairs comfortably, getting up with ease, or feeling steadier on your feet.

FAQ

How is the program different from physiotherapy at an OHIP clinic?

Some people complete physiotherapy but still feel they haven’t fully regained their strength, balance, or confidence with movement. This program focuses on one-on-one care and progressive training towards independence and pain-free movement. If you feel you haven’t fully regained your strength, balance, or confidence with movement, we are here to help.

How long does it take to recover? When do I start to see progress?

Recovery time varies depending on your condition, medical history, and personal goals. Many patients begin noticing improvements within the first four to six weeks in their strength, ability to move, and confidence.

That said, if this is something you have been dealing with for many years, it will likely require more than just a few weeks to fully address.

The focus of this program is on helping you understand what to do on your own so you can continue progressing independently with periodic guidance and adjustments, rather than needing weekly visits.

How do I know if the exercises are not too hard?

Some challenge is a good sign that your body is being asked to adapt and grow stronger. Your physiotherapist will check in with you regularly and provide the appropriate exercises and what to look for if the exercises are too hard. You're never expected to figure that out on your own.
